Coaching for Student Success

Personally, I struggled to find my place in college. I made very few friends and looked forward to graduating as soon as possible. I felt few people cared about my success or would notice whether or not I was there. These negative experiences led me to a career in higher education, where I try to help improve the college experience for every student I serve.

I have worked in higher education for 15 years and have a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. I have provided academic advising, led service programs, conducted trainings, taught classes, and managed crisis. I have broad experiences working with first-generation college students, underrepresented populations, non-traditional students, veterans, sexual assault survivors, and foster youth. And I am confident that I can help you have a better college experience.

There are many strategies that would have made my college experience better. For example, getting involved, going to office hours, having an on campus job, stepping out of my comfort zone, finding study groups, and the list goes on… I am committed to helping students identify strategies for their success and explore how they can use their strengths.

Any student can benefit from life coaching. Every student needs someone who can listen without judgment and help them work through challenges, develop plans, and figure out who they are and who they want to be.

I am a facilitator and guide. Coaching is not advice-giving or therapy. Coaching can help a student to:

  • Transition to college and adult life
  • Find community
  • Build connections
  • Identify resources
  • Problem solve
  • Set goals

I hope you will take the opportunity to improve your college experience and achieve your full potential!
