My Philosophy

As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same.

– Marianne Williamson

I seek to empower others – students, coworkers, friends, or family – and have a positive impact in someone else’s life. I enjoy finding the uniqueness in individuals and helping them identify their strengths. I believe a great leader is someone who can inspire others. My greatest moments are hearing my students or staff say that they learned so much, achieved something they never thought was possible, or grew from their experiences during our time working together.

I believe in supporting and advocating for students. I am able to provide useful and relevant information, present options, explain university procedures, and identify appropriate resources to best serve students. I empower students to maximize their full potential. I believe all students who are admitted to the university have the potential to succeed and deserve every opportunity to pursue their educational, professional, and personal goals.

I believe that higher education improves the lives of individuals, and I have seen the profound impact on entire families, social networks, and communities. I have worked with students and families of many diverse backgrounds to access resources such as education, health care, employment, and social services.  My work with diverse populations and my personal experiences have helped me to develop a sensitivity to the needs of students and the community at large.
